Lotus, gegründet 1982 von Mitch Kapor. Mit dem von ihm entwickeltem Tabellenkalkulationsprogramm Lotus 1-2-3 entstand die erste Killerapplikation für den IBM PC. Mit dem von Ray Ozzie entwickelten Notes bietet Lotus eine erfolgreiche Groupware-Software, die bei vielen Beratungsfirmen im Einsatz ist. IBM kaufte Lotus für 3,5 Milliarden Dollar.
